A little bit about me.

Finalist: 2008 Photographer of the Year - International Competition

I love my job! What more can I say? I love the feeling of capturing that perfect split second moment of emotion. I love the feeling of creating an image from a vision in my head, and nailing it! I love seeing the reaction of the couples as they see the images for the first time. Its amazing. I am truly blessed to have the privilege of being a photographer.

I actually fell into this profession very much by accident. I was the owner of a music promotion and management company when I was 18 and studying at Penn State. I started to photograph the bands so they would have images for their press kits. I was hooked. I soon was shooting everything that I could get my hands on. Soon after I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to photograph my first wedding. It was the wedding of a high school classmate of mine and a childhood friend. I owe everything to Josh and Jen for giving me the opportunity to photograph their wedding.

The very next year we sold out for the season! Since then the business has grown into something I could have never imagined. It has allowed me to shoot in locations all across the country and soon the world! I have had the privilege to shoot along side of and learn from some of the best photographers in the world. These photographers include: Australian photographers Jerry Ghionis and Yervant, Joe Buissink, David Beckstead, John Michael Cooper (Altf), the Bebbs, and more.

I also have recently been invited to be an instructor at several of the PhotogShootOut workshops in front of over 70 professional photographers, as well as invited to become a member of the Circle of 8.

My work is always expanding. At every wedding or portrait session I try to do things that I have never done before.

When I am not photographing something, I love anything to do with movies and music. As a former performer I am very passionate about music. I love a lot of bands that people probably have never heard of. Movies to me are one of the most magical things on earth. I love seeing just about any movie that I can put my hands on. Some of you have seen my movie theater in my house with the 120" screen. It is definitely my favorite room in the house!

My next passion I will be exploring soon is traveling and seeing the world. I can't wait to get started.

Above all I love to have a great time every time I go out shooting. My fun and friendly style is something that my couples love, mixing photojournalism with fashion.

Thanks again for checking out the website!

Who is on my dream list??

I have often been asked…. who would you love to photograph? I think this is a great time on a snowy day to sit down and write out this list. The people on the list will surely be an interesting mix of people. Some because I feel they would be interesting photographically, but others because I believe they have a compelling story, or would be amazing to sit down with.

(In decent order, 1 being the most)

1. Natalie Portman - Beautiful! What can I say. If you have seen the movie “Closer” , there is a scene with her and Julia Roberts, where Natalie spins around with a tear in her eye and says “Just take my picture”. Yup. Need to photograph her. And if she decides to marry me after that, that is just fine as well!

2. Jack White - singer/songwriter/musician - Not only does he have a pretty amazing sense of self style and would arrive in something interesting to photograph, I believe he is one of the most underrated musicians of our team. Front man for three successful bands: The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and The Dead Weather. Not only would the photos be fun, but we would definitely have to jam afterwards

3. Lady Gaga - Ok… your going to say… “what?” I can’t really figure out if I think she is attractive or not. But it can definitely be said that she is interesting and talented. She is the Madonna of our day (a Madonna that can actually sing). Not to mention…. if you have seen her at any awards show, you know she is going to come in a very interesting outfit.

4. Will I Am - Again, musical genuis of our day, as well as tremendous sense of style

5. Jay-z with Beyounce. Yes… together!

6. Kristen Bell - Same reasons as Natalie Portman above, plus I can just tell she would be tons of fun at a shoot.

7. Pink and/or Katie Perry - Couldn’t decide on which, so either. Pink would definitely be cool to do with an ariel shoot like her Grammy performance. Katie Perry’s shoot would be something more out of the realm of David LaChappelle.

8. Yervant and/or Jerry Ghionis. This is a personal goal. Why? Because I believe they are the tops in the field of creative Wedding photography. In order for me to be crazy enough to ask them to sit in front of my camera, I would have to have reached a point where I am really happy with my photography. That is why it is a goal. I am not there yet and continue to work at it. I would photograph either of them in a style similar to the style of Platon. A simple one light.

9. The entire cast of Circus de Olay. Come on. That would just be pretty darn cool. Imagine the crazy stuff you could come up with.

10. One of the classics: Maybe Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, Bill Cosby, Steven Tyler, Neil Young. Those might be more on the list that it would be cool to say that you did it.

I am sure this list would adapt differently even if I wrote it tomorrow. But those I guess are the one’s that sprung to mind.

It’s Almost Here!!

I am so happy to announce that the new website is almost here. There are some REALLY exciting features of the site that I don’t want to ruin the surprise of.

What I can definitely say is this. If you are not currently one of my wedding couples…. Hurry up and become one!! There is a VERY cool feature that I will be giving to all of my couples as a free gift to the launch of the new website.

Still some dates left for 2010, and 2011 hasn’t taken off with fury in the last couple of weeks.

I can’t wait to show it all to you. I am hoping for a launch on Monday or Tuesday.

PLEASE NOTE: To all current wedding couples. If you see your online albums/slideshows unavailable, this is due to the switch over of website servers and behind the scenes action. They will all be back up shortly after the switch. If time passes and you notice your event is not back up, please just send me an email and give me a heads up.

Thank you again!

Jeff

News and Updates

Soooooooo. Ok I know it has been a while since I have blogged, but BOY has it been a busy time lately. I wanted to make a quick post to update you on a few things that have been happening as well as a few teasers of things to come.

MYSTIC 5 - Mystic, CT

This past week I had the pleasure of going to Mystic, CT to learn even more from some of the best wedding photographers in the world. It was great to see photographers again like Jerry Ghionis from Australia, AltF from Las Vegas, David Williams from Australia, DQ Studios, and two time Pulitzer Prize Winner Greg Gibson. It’s really exciting to go to an event several states away and have people recognize me from my work. It was also great chillin with the Circle of 8 group for the week and seeing a lot of old faces.

More importantly is the inspiration that I have come away with from attending. I have several new projects in the works and new ideas for how I want to photograph going into the 2010 wedding season. I can’t wait to get started!

Charitable Project

I am working hard with a large name charity (to be announced later, shhhh), to start a very important charitable project. I can’t go into too many details about it at this time, but I can tell you that it is going to be very cool and I believe will have a large impact locally and nationally as we grow the scope of the project. Stay tuned for more information about this project and how you can get involved!

Weekender Model of the Week

Just a note that you can continue to see my work published each week in the Times Leader: Weekender Model of the Week.

New Website!!

The brand new website is almost complete! I hope to be able to launch it some time this coming week. It is a new site built from the ground up with the wedding couples in mind. You will be able to see my past weddings and even be able to see what vendors the couples used for their weddings. Since I have the priveledge of working with some of the best vendors around, it will make a great resource for you while you are planning your wedding.

2010 Dates

2010 dates are flying fast! There are still spots left and I would love to photograph your wedding! So make sure you give me a call or email and get your wedding booked asap.

TEASERS

I have a few new things on the horizon that I can’t yet speak about but are going to be very exciting! Here are a few hints:

- The introduction of Fine Art Prints

- A better solution to 8×10 prints

- An Engagement Session like you have never seen before!

- The Fashion Bridal Session

- Albums explained. Why they are so important and why a photographer is doing you a disservice if they do not take care in producing this priceless heirloom for you.

- And much more!

2010 is going to be a really fun year and I can’t wait to get started. I can’t wait for the warm weather to whip around especially so that we can get back outside creating awesome photos!

I encourage you to make 2010 your best year yet!

Philadelphia Photog Shootout

Hello everyone
Some of you have wondered why I have been in Philadelphia twice this past week shooting. Well here is one of them! I was once again one of the ‘instructors’ at the PhillyPhotogShootOut event held in center city Philadelphia. This is the same group I worked with in Atlantic City a few months back. YES!, It was bitter cold! I believe about 16 degrees? You don’t even notice it though when you are out having fun shooting. At least that is what I tell myself :). Below you will see a video featuring some of my work by the very talented Aubert Films.

You will also see my photos below.

I am very close to saying that Philly is growing on me. Now I just have to find a way to get there without the hassle of driving! Also keep an eye out for another post probably tomorrow from my other day shooting in Philly with the Circle of 8 which I am a part of. Enjoy!

Wedding Trailer - Allyson & Bill - Franklin Institute

Here is the wedding video trailer done by Glen Elliott and Darrell Aubert. This is a wedding that I shot with/for Mark Gardner Photography, who is also a member of our The Circle of 8. You will see by watching the video trailer that there is a reason why these are the only people that we will recommend for Wedding Videography. It’s leaps and bounds above the rest, just like our photography. Enjoy

Franklin Institute - Wedding Photography

Just another quick photo from the recent wedding I shot with Mark Gardner at the Franklin Institute. I really like this quick grap during the cocktail hour. Oh yes, their cocktail hour was in the planetarium!
